Student filmmakers from the Mapúa University School of Media Studies hosted a competition and screening of 24 student projects during the third VanGarde Experimental Film Festival, with the theme “Clairvoyance Meeting,” at the Mapúa Cardinal Cinema in Makati.

Celebrating the art of visual storytelling, CineMapúa, spearheaded by the School of Media Studies (SMS), marked its 20th anniversary, from March 13 to 18, 2023. With 2,892 entries from young filmmakers across 108 countries, 50 film entries were chosen as finalists. This year, it officially revamped into an international student short film festival with the launch of the World Film Category.

Last November 17, a new batch of local student council officers and University Student Government leaders took their oath to serve the Mapúan community for A.Y. 2022-2023 at the Intramuros Campus Gymnasium.

Two academic programs from Mapúa University’s School of Media Studies (SMS) – Bachelor of Arts in Multimedia Arts and Bachelor of Arts in Digital Film – were granted the ASEAN University Network-Quality Assurance (AUN-QA) certification, which was also SMS’ very first accreditation, last September 2022.

Diving deep into the water, walking through fire, and exploring space, the Association of Geologists and Geological Engineers of Mapúa (AGGEM) celebrated Geology Week 2022 last February 21 to 25 via Google Meet and Facebook Live.

In line with its goal of continuous innovation, Mapúa University (MU), in partnership with the Department of Science and Technology – Philippine Council for Industry, Energy, and Emerging Technology Research and Development (DOST-PCIEERD) and Digital Pilipinas, launched the Think and Tinker Laboratory, a technology business incubator (TBI) last January 27, 2022.
